On Thursday, January 16th, Martina Vida of the Lutra Institute gave a lecture on coexistence with beavers at the Ljutomer Public Library. She presented examples of good practices in preventing damage and the possibilities of successful coexistence between beavers and humans.

At the end of the lecture, there was time for a discussion. One of the topics was a friendly coexistence with other animal and plant species from the natural world.

During the lecture, we also prepared an exhibition about beavers in the library – panels presented people with various information about beavers and their lives, and visitors were also able to see beaver’s art (gnawed trunks and branches) in a display case, touch its soft fur, and smell castoreum – a special excretion from beaver glands.

On this occasion, the Beličnik Association awarded a prize in the form of a tea blend, and the lucky winner had to give the correct answer to the question: “Why do beavers have orange teeth?”
