One of the oldest and largest beaver dams known in Slovenia are from Lešnica brook near Novo mesto. Therefore, we decided to set up a camera there and see what the beavers are up to. During a drought in August, the water level dropped with the stream almost completely drying up. We observed a small beaver which crossed the dried-up bed from one beaver hut to another, positioned directly across in the opposite bank. Fortunately, the rain came and the water level rose again to its normal depth in the beginning of September. The entrance into the two beaver huts was not exposed long. It was also interesting to notice dried up corn stalks which the beaver left in front of the entrances.
