BEAVETRACK at Citizen Science exhibition

Throughout the month of August, Citizen Science exhibition prepared by the Central Technical Library will be on display on the Krakovski nasip (embankment) along the Ljubljanica River in the old town of our capital, Ljubljana. The exhibition will also feature a beaver, inviting citizens to participate in collecting data on beaver occurrences in the BEAVERTRACK application.

We invite you to visit the exhibition and report any beaver tracks you discover on your walks along the water! Although we have already completed the project, BEAVERTRACK will remain a part of citizen science in which you can participate for a long time to come.

Beaver Day at the Aqualutra Centre

The AQUALUTRA Otter Center invites you to BEAVER SHOWS on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, which will take place from 11 a.m. onwards. You will be able to see the exhibition, feel the beaver fur, smell the castoreum, see different beaver tracks and learn many other interesting things.

Children and youngsters are especially invited!

At 6 p.m., Marjana Hönigsfeld Adamič and Martina Vida, biologists at the LUTRA Institute, the lead partner of the LIFE BEAVER project, will present the beaver in more detail. You will learn everything you don’t know about this animal.

Hunters and all citizens who care about nature conservation are especially invited!

Beaver exhibition at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Maribor

From April 1st – 11th, 2025, you are kindly invited to visit the beaver exhibition, which will be held at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Maribor.

Beaver exhibition and lecture in the municipality of Rakrižje (SLO)

On Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, we invite you to a lecture on coexistence with beavers! The event will be held at 5 pm in the Razkrižje Library and Reading Room.

An exhibition about beavers will also be on display in the library until March 28th.

This Monday, March 3rd, 2025, we invite you to a lecture on coexistence with beavers! The event will be held at 5 pm in the Tone Partljič Cultural Hall in Pesnica.

An exhibition about beavers will also be on display in the lobby in front of the hall from March 3rd to 17th.

bition and lecture in Jarenina (SLO)

We are pleased to invite you to the beaver exhibition, which will be on display in the Museum Hall in Jarenina from January 31st till February 16th, 2025!

There will also be a lecture about beaver at the same location on February 10 at 5:15 PM – the lecture will be held by our colleague and expert on this species, Martina Vida. She will present – among other things – the role of beavers in the environment and examples of good practices for protection against beaver damage.

Beaver exhibition in the Public Library of Ljutomer

You are invited to visit an interesting and educational exhibition about the beaver, its life, the history of this species in our country, its impact on the environment and more.

The exhibition also includes beaver “artifacts” (gnawed trunks and branches) and various other materials (beaver fur that you can feel, a beaver skull, paw prints, and you can also smell a special secretion of beaver glands – castoreum).

The exhibition will be on display until January 31st, 2025 at the Youth Department of the Ljutomer General Library.

Beaver at the hunting and fishing fair in Gornja Radgona (April 5-7, 2024)

This week, from Friday to Sunday (April 5th-7th, 2024), you are invited to visit us at the Gornja Radgona Hunting, Fishing and Nature Fair! Visitors of our stand will be introduced to the beaver, its neighbor the otter and their home – freshwater ecosystems 🙂

On Friday, April 5th, we especially invite you to a lecture about the beaver in the exhibition hall 2 at 2:30 p.m.!

Lecture on beaver in Lenart

On Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 5 p.m., we invite you to a lecture on the beaver – a key species of aquatic ecosystems, at the Lenart Library in Slovenske Gorice! Our beaver expert, Martina Vida, will give a lecture.

Workshop on beavers for school and preschool children in the Škocjan Library

Tomorrow, on Tuesday, March 19xth, 2024, you are kindly invited to the Škocjan in Dolenjska library at 5 p.m. First, there will be a short presentation of beavers for preschool and school-aged children. A creative workshop on the topic of beavers will follow. You are welcome!

PRESENTATION OF THE BEAVER AT THE 2023 CRANNOG DAY

On Saturday, August 26th, 2023, you are invited to join us between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Crannog Day in Draga pri Igu!

The organizers wrote as follows: Crannog Day is a one-day event where visitors try out a wide variety of skills typical of crannog makers through workshops. We will also prepare an accompanying program (performances, archaeological and other lectures). The workshops are divided into archaeological workshops, where the main content is archaeological, from finds to the interpretation of archaeological finds, to experiential ones, where participants, based on their own work and experience, gain knowledge about life in the time of the crannog makers, and nature conservation workshops, where they get to know the fauna and flora of the Ljubljana Marshes and the Draga valley today and in the time of the crannogs.

THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 10th, 2023, YOU ARE INVITED TO GET TO KNOW THE BEAVER AND THE OTTER AT THE CERKNICA LAKE!

Various LIFE projects are presented by the Cerknica Lake under the auspices of the Notranjska Regional Park in May and June: LIFE for SEEDS, LIFE Stržen, LIFE Beaver, LIFE Amphicon and LIFE Lynx.

We presented ourselves for the first time on Saturday, May 27th, and we will present our activities for the second time on Saturday, June 10th, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the picturesque location opposite the Visitors Info Center of the Notranjska Regional Park, in the immediate vicinity of the Rešeto manholes.

Children are especially welcome. We are preparing a series of activities and interesting educational content that will enable them to delve deeper into the world of nature and have fun at the same time. LIFE BEAVER project collaborators present our largest freshwater mammals, the beaver and the otter, their biological and ecological characteristics, differences and similarities. You will also learn what role they play in the ecosystem and why the beaver can help us mitigate the effects of climate change.

WORKSHOPS ON LIVING WITH THE BEAVER FOR STAKEHOLDERS – MANAGERS OF PROTECTED AREAS, WATER AND FOREST MANAGERS AND AGRICULTURAL ADVISORS (SLOVENIA)

On March 28th and 29th, 2023, the Slovenian partners of the project are organizing a workshop on coexistence with beavers for the space managers and agricultural consultants. The first workshop will be held at the Forestry Institute in Ljubljana, and the second at the Drava Center in Maribor (Limbuš).

WORKSHOPS ON LIVING WITH THE BEAVER FOR STAKEHOLDERS – MANAGERS OF PROTECTED AREAS, WATER AND FOREST MANAGERS (CROATIA)

On November 29th and December 5th and 6th, 2022, the Croatian partners of the project are organizing workshops on coexistence with beavers for stakeholders in three counties of Croatia. The first workshop will take place in Koprivnica, the second in Vinkovci and the third in Dvorec Tikveš (Kopački rit).
