For Hungarian radio, our coworker Martina Vida of Lendava presented the beaver, its history in Europe and Slovenia, the habitats around Lendava and the ecology of the beaver and its importance for the environment. She highlighted the role of the beaver’s “engineering measures”, such as dams, which have a positive effect on the rise of groundwater during droughts and help in the creation of natural wetlands.
She also talked about the most common conflicts with beavers and how they can be prevented.
She also presented the LIFE BEAVER project and its main goals.
