Twice in one month we attended a course on tourism organised at primary school OŠ Frana Metelka Škocjan (Dolenjska region), where we presented beaver ecology and management as part of a lecture within a classroom (08/01/2024) and out in the field (29/01/2024), where we observed beaver habitat along Radulja brook. Radulja lies approximately 200 m north of school and is an ideal observational spot for beavers. First beaver hut was noticed in Slovenia at the confluence of Radulja and Krka in 1998 after the beavers returned and spread northwards from Croatia. A new educational trail was recently set up by the municipality along Radulja. It also lies within proximity of the beaver hut as well as several gnawed trees and beaver trails. We also observed beaver footprints within snow cover. The two events were a success and we hope for further cooperation with the school.
